Columbia River Gorge - Art

Always beautiful, ever changing, that describes the Columbia River Gorge....the Glacial Lake Missoula--2,000 feet in depth, as big as Lakes Erie and Ontario combined, Car-sized boulders embedded in ice floated some 500 miles; they can still be seen today-- released a torrent of beyond epic proportions 12,000 years ago and scoured these mountain hills, leaving basalt bones in many places....the Klickitats are 3,000 + in elevation, the ice flood climbed up 1,000 of these feet...wiping out every thing and every being in its path.....the basalt outcropping in the foreground is a mute remnant of that day....for more information go to: Glacial Lake Missoula and the Ice Age Floods
